Chiloe Wigeon (Anas sibilatrix). Chiloe Wigeon (Anas sibilatrix).

One pair in the main garden.  They are similar in size to the American Wigeon, but with a little plumage difference between the male and female.  The male has a white forehead with the rest of the head and upper neck black. On the sides of his head are two metallic green patches that extend down to the nape, and there is a white spot behind and slightly below the eye.  The female usually nests in a ground box but has used a raised one occasionally.  The egg clutch size is 6-9 creamy-white eggs.
